C25 - Use of engineering geological models    

Objective: To develop guidelines for the preparation and use of engineering geological models.


Terms of Reference:

To achieve the above goals, tasks to be undertaken may include: 

  1. Review and collect examples of the different kinds of models world-wide.

  2. Network with practitioners and academics with an interest in this subject world-wide.

  3. Define types of models and their applications.

  4. Develop rules (simple techniques) for constructing models.

  5. Establish the techniques for transforming model information so that it can be incorporated within (engineering) decision making.

  6. Establish techniques for incorporating expressions of uncertainty within models as a fundamental feature.

  7. Establish the needs of end users.

  8. Develop and maintain a dedicated area within the IAEG web site.

  9. Communicate progress via IAEG web site and meetings.

  10. Present a comprehensive report at 2010 Congress in New Zealand
