* The term was expanded to six years to fit the new organization of the IAEG. Previously the terms were from an International Geological Congress to the next one (four years). In new statutes the President is elected at each IAEG International Congress at mid term between International Geological Congresses. As well the exact duties of the President and the Executive Committee begin the 1st January and end the 31st December.
